CLINIC SKILLS
This course of study covers all the skills necessary to administer a healthcare clinic. Terminology used in the healthcare industry will be covered, including the appropriate use of terminology in communications both written and verbal. The first half of the course covers the use of policies, procedures, and administration systems in a healthcare clinic, regulatory requirements, stock control, participation in meetings, financial systems and human resources. The second half of the course focuses on how to arrange referrals to other health care professionals, including ascertaining the need for referral, when referral is required by law, documenting referrals and writing referral letters.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS 1
The focus of this communications course is on developing skills for effective communications both in the workplace and with clients. It covers interpersonal skills, workplace communication protocols, respecting individual differences, seeking and receiving feedback, conflict resolution, establishing professional relationships, active listening, responding to enquiries, handling difficult behaviour, professional integrity, transference and basic counselling skills. In addition, the Character Structures, originally developed by Wilhelm Reich, are incorporated to aid in students understanding themselves at a deeper level as well as their clients and the muscle monitoring responses they receive.
HEALTH SKILLS
To prepare you for working in the health industry this course of study covers the skills and knowledge necessary for fulfilling your occupational health and safety; infection control; and ethical and legal obligations. To work effectively in the health industry it is essential to maintain professional standards, understand the Australian healthcare system, continue developing skills, maintain a high standard of hygiene, and control infection in the workplace. The final aspect of this course involves understanding the occupational health and safety responsibilities of all employers and employees in
Western Australia, including hazard identification and risk control procedures.
MUSCULOSKELETAL KINESIOLOGY
This course of study addresses the postural and structural aspects of the body. The structure and function of both the skeletal and muscular systems are covered in-depth. It covers muscle balancing for improved posture, health and performance, physical pain balancing using reactivity, and balancing of joints using both structural and energetic techniques. In addition, this course covers techniques for dealing with structural problems such as scoliosis, frozen shoulder, and carpal tunnel; as well as the complex structures of the head (cranial bones), neck and jaw (TMJ), and how they relate to the pelvis through the dura matter to give long-term benefits.
Pre-requisites:
Certificate IV in Kinesiology
NEUROLOGICAL KINESIOLOGY
The procedures covered in this course of study can make changes in behaviour patterns and responses simply and permanently. The focus of this course is the central nervous system and it addresses the subconscious fight/flight responses as well as the causes of loss of brain integration to affect amazing results. The brain has many glandular tissues that secrete a variety of hormones and neurotransmitters, and in this course students will learn to balance basic physiological processes, instincts, drives and emotional responses which largely dictate human behaviour and body function. In addition, the fundamentals of brain integration will be covered including deep level switching.
Pre-requisites:
Pre-requisites:
Certificate IV in Kinesiology
HORMONAL KINESIOLOGY
This course of study covers the structure and function of the endocrine system, which coordinates the functioning of all the body’s systems and affects most body tissues. It will involve study of all the endocrine glands and the hormones they secrete and learning how to balance each of these glands as well as hormone production and secretion. The endocrine system is important in regulating our daily rhythms and sleep cycles, cellular metabolism, blood sugar regulation, levels of calcium and phosphate in the blood, stress levels and sex hormones. Students will learn how to balance all these aspects of human functioning.
Pre-requisites:
Certificate IV in Kinesiology
NUTRITION FOR KINESIOLOGISTS
The main focus of this course of study is how to provide basic dietary advice. The fundamentals of nutrition will be covered including the essential nutrients and substances necessary for normal functioning and the maintenance of life. The major nutrients of carbohydrates, protein and fats will be covered in depth as well as water, vitamins and minerals. Students will learn how to balance food sensitivities, nutrient bioavailability, nutrient deficiencies, nutrient excesses and toxicities. In addition, students will learn how to complete a basic diet analysis and to use that information to provide basic dietary advice and to plan Kinesiology treatment.
Pre-requisites:
Certificate IV in Kinesiology
PROFESSIONAL SKILLS
This course of study includes the skills and knowledge necessary to operate as a professional healthcare provider. Students will learn how to: develop self awareness as a professional; initiate and maintain continual development of their professional skills and knowledge; and make constructive contributions to the healthcare and complementary health industries. In addition, this course thoroughly covers research skills including how to design, conduct, report and evaluate a research project. Students will have to go through this entire researching process with a topic of their own choosing and will present their research findings to their peers.
PRACTICE MANAGEMENT
Understanding how to manage a healthcare practice is vital for achieving success in the healthcare industry. This course of study offers a fresh alternative to management and explores why every professional must take charge of their own life, reconcile their personal vision with that of the organisation and develop the mindset to achieve true success. It includes the preparing of a business plan, fulfilling ethical and legal responsibilities, developing marketing strategies and managing clients and finances. Kinesiology balances are part of the planning process to shift the subconscious blocks and help all students find success in their new career.
